The  Honda CBR 650R  is a fresh motorcycle from the house of Honda. This motorcycle was initially introduced by the name of CBR 650F, which was basically a middle weight Sports Tourer machine.

This motorcycle came with a 648.72CC, liquid cooled 4 cylinder 16 valve 4-stroke DOHC engine which produced up to 85.28 BHP @11000 RPM and a peak torque of 60.5 Nm @8500 RPM. It had the same engine as the CBR 650R, but with a different set of tuning. But as the time passed this motorcycle started looking outdated and started lacking features as compared to it's competitors.

So, in 2019 Honda upgraded it's CBR 650F to CBR 650R, which was more spottier, aggressive, nimble and agile than before, also the tuning of the CBR 650R is on the aggressive side, this motorcycle now produces more horsepower and torque than the 'F' version. Also their has been a lots of changes on the ergonomics and body styling. Talking about the ergonomics, now the CBR 650R comes with more forward lean sitting position and the body styling is now totally inspired by the Honda's flagship model the Honda CBR 1000RR. And this bike is available in only 2 colour options, first being Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Grand Prix Red.

CBR 650R is now more track ready motorcycle. With the more aggressive ergonomics the Honda CBR 650R feels so much confidant while cornering and knee downs. Also the electronics has been upgraded and this motorcycle comes with a fully digital instrument cluster which is indeed very informative. Talking about the basic features the instrument cluster offers. It has got a speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, clock, two trip meters, engine temperature gauge, and lot more.

                                                                     The Honda CBR 650R comes with the same old 648.72CC, liquid cooled inline-4 cylinder, 16 valve, 4-stroke DOHC engine which has a compression ratio of 11.6:1 and 91 octane is recommended for the healthy and smooth running engine. This is mated to a 6-Speed transmission. But this time it come with a different and more aggressive set of tuning and produces more horses and torque than the older version. Now this bike produces a max of 87 BHP @11500 RPM and peak torque of 60.1 @8000 RPM. This bike can now do a 0 to 100 kmph under 4 seconds and a top speed of whooping 240 Kmph. The seat height is now 810 mm from the ground.

  • Features And Safety: 

                                            The CBR 650R comes with a tons of features. At first you get a all LED headlamps, beneath the headlamps we get 2 air ducts which serves as ram air intake. Going ahead we get a very informative instrument cluster and at the rear part we get a full LED tail/break light.

Talking about the safety features. First of all we get two massive 310 mm discs with Nissin four-pot calipers and a single 240 mm disc at the rear, which really does it's job. This setup comes with dual channel ABS as standard. For beginners, Honda has also equipped the CBR with traction control system (TCS), which again comes as standard.

  • Handling:


                                You have to agree that the Honda CBR 650R is one of the best motorcycle in the market in terms of handling. At the front we get 41 mm USD(Up Side Down) Showa adjustable suspension and at the rear we get a mono-shock suspension. This suspension setup really absorbs most part of the road.

  5. One of the few motorcycles which gets 4-cylinder in this segment.

                            The Honda CBR 650R is undoubtedly one of the best motorcycle in it's segment. And if you are thinking of stepping into middle weight motorcycle category, than you should definitely consider this motorcycle in your list. But if you are buying or riding a 600CC motorcycle for the first time then you should just go for this motorcycle, because this motorcycle has electronics like dual channel ABS Traction Control System (TCS) which comes as standard which will help you understand a 600CC motorcycle easily. Also this bike runs on 91 octane which is easily available across the globe. This is a bike from the one of the best manufacturer in the market, so their should not be any issue with the engine. But before buying one you should always take a test ride of the bike.
